Mummy Mondays - My Mummy Journey So Far

Hi Ladies!

As you will have read in my New Year, New Blog post I'm starting a new feature on my blog called Mummy Mondays where every Monday I do a post about all things Mummy related.

I thought it would be a good idea to start Mummy Mondays with the story of my journey as a Mum so far, so here's my story and I really hope you enjoy reading it!

I had always wanted 3 children, being 1 of 3 myself I always loved having a brother and a sister and I wanted that for my own children, me and my husband decided that we wanted to try for our first child back in 2009, after 3 months of trying I fell pregnant with my son Riley Blaise, my pregnancy with Riley was really easy, I had no morning sickness, no pelvis pain, no heartburn, infact no pregnancy symptoms whatsoever, it was great!

Me right at the end of my pregnancy with my son Riley.
However it all went a bit wrong when it came time to give birth, I went 2 weeks overdue with Riley and had to be induced which was fine until we discovered that Riley was back to back, coming out with his face looking up instead of having his chin to his chest and with his cord wrapped around his neck twice! After 20 hours of grueling labour Riley was finally delivered by forceps and ventouse, he was perfect thank goodness but I must say the whole birth experience put me off having another baby bigtime!

After I had got over Riley's birth I settled in to being a Mummy really easily and I can honestly say that being a Mum is the best job in the world, it's hard work sometimes and very tiring but it's amazing and I'd recommend it to anyone!

Riley aged 2 years and 4 months
Cut to 2 years later and although I loved being a Mum to my little man, I was still troubled by the horrible labour and delivery I'd had with him and found trying to decide when to have our second child really hard. To be honest I was petrified about going through it again and unsure as to whether I could actually put myself through it all again, I shouldn't have worried though as nature made the decision for me and in July 2012 we were very surprised to find out I was pregnant with my second child who is due in March 2013.

This pregnancy has been the complete opposite of my first one, I had sickness, dizzyness, pelvis pain, back pain, headaches, indigestion, heartburn, the list goes on and on. I remember sitting in bed at 6 weeks pregnant, feeling so sick I didn't know what to do with myself and just crying my eyes out because I couldn't bear feeling so ill for the next however many weeks, good job I didn't know then that I had to feel like that for the next 11 weeks as my sickness didn't stop until I was 17 weeks.

Me at 30 weeks pregnant
We found out that we're having a girl this time which was a complete shock as I was convinced that this baby was another boy but it's lovely to think I can now buy pink things as I am a massive girly girl. I'm currently 31 weeks pregnant and I'm counting down the days to my due date as pregnancy this time has been very hard work and I think the idea of having 3 children has gone out the window as I really don't think I could do this again.

Our little munchkin at 31 weeks inside my tummy, amazing!
So there you have it, my Mummy journey so far. I hope it wasn't too long and boring, I could have gone in to much more detail but I didn't want to just go on and on. Coming up soon in my Mummy Mondays posts will be a product review on some new baby wipes I've been sent to try called Water Wipes which are 99.9% water and safe for use on newborns and a fab website that I've recently discovered called Hearts by Emma where you can buy beautiful gifts that can be personalised.

Let me know what you thought about my first Mummy Mondays post and if there are any subjects in particular that you'd be interested in me doing posts on in the future, I love to hear from you!

  3. Aww I loved reading this post, Emma :)

Its so funny how different everybody is with pregnancies - I have been so ill all the way through this one and I blamed it on having a boy lol, but seems like maybe our bodies react different to different babies! That gives me some hope that maybe next time won't be so bad if I decide to ever brave this experience again hehe!

When in March are you due? I'm due April 4th :)

Riley is so cute and I love his names!

  6. Aww, love this post idea! And how scary to have his cord wrapped twice around his neck. I honestly worry about that kind of thing so often...but all you can do is pray and hope I suppose.
So exciting you're having a girl!!
